**English below** Die griechische Insel Lesvos ist ein Ort voller Widersprüche: Einerseits beeindruckt sie mit einer einzigartig schönen Landschaft, andererseits sieht man jeden Abend die griechische Küstenwache ins Ägäische Meer ausfahren – auf Missionen, die oft illegale und tödliche Pushbacks zur Folge haben.

Migrant:innen werden kriminalisiert, und die Küstenwache arbeitet eng mit der europäischen Grenzschutzagentur Frontex zusammen. In den vergangenen Jahren haben sich die Situation auf der Insel und die Arbeit von Freiwilligen, NGOs und autonomen Organisationen stark verändert. Die VON UNTEN Redaktion war von 15. bis zum 19. Januar zu Gast bei unserem Kooperationsradio Radio Mytilini auf Lesvos. Dort haben wir mit Journalist:innen, Anwält:innen und autonom organisierten Menschen aus unterschiedlichen Initiativen gesprochen, um herauszufinden, wie sich die Lage für People on the Move, für Freiwillige und Organisationen entwickelt hat und wie sie aktuell aussieht. In diesem Beitrag berichtet Maria von der No Border Kitchen, wie sich die Arbeit der autonomen Gruppe in den letzten Jahren verändert hat, wie viele Menschen sie mit Essen versorgen – und was es für sie bedeutet, durch wöchentliche Treffen Gemeinschaften zwischen Gruppen zu schaffen, die sonst keine Berührungspunkte hätten. Bild: Tamara Ussner „Our work here creates community and thats what I like about it“ – Maria from No Border Kitchen The Greek island of Lesvos is a place full of contradictions: on the one hand, it impresses with its uniquely beautiful landscape; on the other, every evening, you see the Greek coast guard heading out into the Aegean Sea—on missions that often result in illegal and deadly pushbacks. Migrants are criminalized, and the coast guard works closely with the European border protection agency, Frontex. Over the past few years, the situation on the island and the work of volunteers, NGOs, and autonomous organizations have changed significantly. The VON UNTEN editorial team visited our partner radio station, Radio Mytilini, on Lesvos from January 15 to 19. There, we spoke with journalists, lawyers, and autonomously organized individuals from various initiatives to find out how the situation for People on the Move, volunteers, and organizations has evolved—and what it currently looks like. In this interview Maria from No Border Kitchen shares how the work of this autonomous group has changed in recent years, how many people they provide with food—and what it means to her to create communities through weekly meetings between groups that would otherwise have no points of contact.
